(1820–1893) Irish physicist and natural philosopher. One of the most eminent teachers and prolific writers of his day, Tyndall writes in this brief note, "I am glad you like the alterations…" Among Tyndall's numerous scientific discoveries and experiments was the suggestion that the blue of the sky is due to the scattering of very small particles of water suspended in the upper atmosphere.
